A Winter engagement session might be one of my favorite things to photograph. My family and I lived in Alaska for a time and I’ve photographed weddings outdoors at -12, got to the location for a family session to have my fully charged camera battery die because the negative temperature at the time zapped it, and have sweat nearly to death due to all the layers I had to put on to get those perfect outdoor shots. So when it comes to cold weather here in Washington, I’m definitely prepared.
For Christian and Jessica’s winter engagement session we were lucky enough to have some snow still hanging around. A couple days before the area had been hit with ice and snow storms, power outages, and just really lovely weather (smirk). So with the rain still coming down on this day, some photographer may choose to reschedule but we just couldn’t. Jessica was in town for the weekend only and that very same day she was headed back to school in Utah. So we crossed our fingers and headed out in the rain. If you’ve seen any of my previous engagement sessions like Jace and Leah you’ll see that I absolutely love shooting in the rain. There’s something about the element rain adds to engagement sessions. And because the sky is usually overcast when it’s raining, it draws out those deep and rich colors that the Pacific Northwest is so well known for. Like I’ve said throughout my life probably a million times, there’s a reason why Washington is so green.
What made this session so fun was the willingness of this couple! They are obviously super over the moon for each other so any time I would ask them do do something they’d respond with an emphatic yes!
Dash Point State Park is absolutely stunning for any type of photos. You have the option of a highly wooded area with gorgeous trees and trails. And then you cross the street and you can walk right onto the beach where we got some amazing views not only of these two love birds but the scenery as well.
I’m super excited to share with you this Winter Engagement Session!

Imagine, you walk into my studio (located in Aberdeen, Wa) completely freaked out. I mean, even though we've been talking and I've been preparing you this isn't something you've ever done before!
So you sit down in my stylist's chair as she starts to go over hair and makeup looks with you. As she begins you start to feel at ease. We decide which outfit you're going to start with and start posing! The music is playing and soon the camera falls away, you're just feeling it! I show you a few shots on the back of my camera and you're floored! That's me?! But you say it in a way as if that confidence has always been there, we just needed to pull it out of you.
That is why I do what I do! To watch you transform from unsure into the powerful, amazing, confident woman that you are! You just needed a little boost. And I'm here to give that to you.
